Medication related osteonecrosis of the jaws: The role of CBCT in diagnosis and treatment

This lecture will include information on the clinical and radiographic presentation of MRONJ, will focus on appropriate imaging for MRONJ diagnosis and the importance of CBCT in determining MRONJ severity and appropriate treatment. Review of CBCT volumes will also be included.

Mr. Matt Carpenter

Head and Neck Anatomy Review: With Radiographic Interpretation

This course will review the anatomy of the head and neck region.  Emphasis will be placed on reviewing the anatomy of the structures in and around the oral cavity and their radiographic interpretation. This course will discuss various aspects of head and neck anatomy such as the maxilla, mandible, TMJ, nasal cavity and other surrounding structures. Once the appearance of these normal anatomic structures have been discussed, a brief discussion of some normal variations and pathologic conditions will be shown in order to understand what to look for when interpreting a change in appearance.

Meeting the Challenges to re-open dental offices during the COVID 19 Pandemic

Dental Offices were closed nationwide to "flatten the curve" during shelter in place. What were the necessary steps and information needed to reopen dental offices safely. The lecture will outline the changes that were necessary to return to dental practice safely.

Dr. Dania Tamimi

Your Diagnosis Depends on How You Take the Scan

This lecture aims to show the attendee how important the correct imaging parameters (Field of view, resolution and patient position) are to obtaining the correct diagnosis. Dr. Tamimi will discuss these parameters in relation to some of the more common scan indications such as TMJ, Airway, orthodontics, implant and endodontics, helping the attendee understand the "why" behind her recommendations.

Dr. David C. Hatcher

Influence of Facial Growth on Airway Dimensions

Small airway dimensions may be a risk factor for sleep related breathing disorders and upper airway resistance.  The airway dimensions can be influenced by many factors including age, gender, jaw growth, tongue size and airway masses. The use of CBCT, spatially accurate 3d imaging, creates the opportunity to assess the airway dimensions and to identify factors that have contributed the diminution of airway size.   A stratified diagnostic process and identification of the etiology of a small airway creates the opportunity to employ a therapy that targets the etiology.

Shaza Mardini DDS, MS

How to Scan Through a Scan

This lecture will give the technologist the perspective of how an Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist approaches reading a CBCT scan.  Included in the discussion will be approaching the clinical question, manipulating the data, different imaging processing used and findings.

The Future of Medical Imaging: Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Services

Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Services have the potential to collect and synthesize medical data to create methods for faster, easier, and more accurate analysis of a patient's condition. Integrating medical devices into the Internet of Things will allow us to take advantage of big data collected from all over the world to recognize patterns and draw insights on what patients are experiencing and how to best treat them. CurveBeam has been working on a deep-learning based segmentation and auto-measurement platform to enhance the value and efficacy of its CBCT extremity imaging products.

Internet Safety – Protecting Yourself from the Evils of the Internet

The news is full of stories of Ransomware attacks, Viruses outbreaks and Corporate Data Breaches.  As life becomes more Internet centric, your personal online security has never been more important. During this presentation I will show you examples how dental specialty Practices and labs have been hacked, understand how Sextortion scams work, how you can learn if your usernames and passwords have been leaked during a data breach.  We’ll cover some simple steps you can take to better protect yourself online. I promise to limit the ‘Geek Speak’ and talk about the issues in terms we can all understand.

Learning Objectives

1.     Know how to determine if your usernames and passwords have been leaked onto the Internet

2.            Know how to make simple and secure passwords

3.            Know how to minimize your risk of being phished in an email
